Visible assumptions and calculation
Region is Belgium, EUR, official displayed rates verified October 8, 2026. Rates are not US dollar rates. This model covers successful online standard-card orders only. It excludes tax, refunds, disputes, international/Amex/Klarna rates, cash, gift cards, POS, shipping labels/postage, inventory and merchant labor. Enter shipping software separately from postage. Monthly cost = selected subscription + Shopify Payments standard-card charges on its own sales/orders + external processor charges on external sales/orders + Shopify third-party transaction percentage on eligible external sales + apps + shipping tooling. Annual recurring = monthly cost × 12 at unchanged volume. First year = annual recurring + one-time costs. Annual selection is a paid-yearly subscription equivalent, not monthly cancellation.
For mixed providers, declare both external revenue share and actual external order count: different baskets can have different average order values. The model never applies Shopify Payments processing to external orders. It adds the external provider's quoted charges and the applicable Shopify transaction fee only on the eligible external portion. Exemptions or special arrangements require a revised quote; do not use the model for mixed card types without separately calculating their rates.
Worked example and plan transition
Basic, annual commitment, €10,000/month standard-card volume and 200 Shopify Payments orders: €24 + €200 + €50 + €50 apps + €20 shipping software = €344/month. Twelve months cost €4,128; adding a €300 theme/setup cost gives €4,428 in year one. Apps and setup are illustrative user inputs, not Shopify mandatory charges.
Grow's subscription is €45/month higher annually but its standard-card rate is 0.2 percentage points lower. Holding every other modeled line equal, rate-only break-even is €45 / 0.002 = €22,500/month. At €10,000, Grow costs €25 more per month; at €25,000, it costs €5 less. Staff access and other required capabilities can justify an earlier upgrade. This is not a claim that everyone should select the fee-only minimum.
An external provider charging an illustrative 2.9% + €0.30 on all 200 Basic orders would cost €290 + €60 processor fees plus €200 Shopify transaction fees. With the same apps/shipping and subscription that is €644/month, not €344. Those example external rates are editable assumptions, not a verified quote for any named provider.
