Firebase Pricing 2026: Spark vs Blaze & Firestore Costs

✨
Short answer: Spark costs $0 and requires no payment method; Blaze uses pay-as-you-go Google Cloud pricing while retaining eligible no-cost quotas. Firestore's Standard edition includes 1 GiB storage, 50,000 document reads/day and 20,000 writes/day at no cost. Usage prices vary by database location.

Cost Estimation Examples

These examples use representative US multi-region Firestore rates and the public Firebase rates shown above. Firestore operation and storage prices vary by location, so use Google Cloud's calculator before approving a production budget.

Scenario 1: Small Mobile App (100,000 daily users)

Firestore reads (3M/month) $1.80
Firestore writes (500K/month) $0.90
Firestore storage (5 GB) $0.90
Hosting bandwidth (50 GB/month) $6.00
Total ~$10/month

Scenario 2: Medium Web App (1M daily users)

Firestore reads (50M/month) $30.00
Firestore writes (5M/month) $9.00
Firestore storage (50 GB) $9.00
Cloud Functions (10M calls/month) $4.00
Hosting bandwidth (500 GB/month) $60.00
Total ~$112/month

Scenario 3: Realtime Database-heavy app

Stored data above free quota (9 GB)$45.00
Downloads above free quota (90 GB)$90.00
Database subtotal$135/month

This is where the corrected $5/GB storage rate matters. Realtime Database bills stored data and downloaded data separately.

What Firebase Bills Separately

Free-to-Paid Thresholds and Cost Controls

Blaze retains eligible no-cost allowances, but enabling billing also unlocks services that can spend beyond those limits. Set a Google Cloud budget alert before launch, monitor Firestore reads caused by listeners and security-rule lookups, and review egress separately from storage.

Budget alerts notify you but do not automatically cap spending. If you implement an automated billing shutdown, Google warns that disabling billing can interrupt the application and may delete some resources. Use application-level quotas, rate limits and dashboards as the safer first line of control.
